Let's dream on
In reality, it would be nice to be able to read the "book about Jet Tone with rare photos and interviews", before the festival ends . |

Waiting for Jet Tone
March 20, 2016
http://festivaldaily.40.hkiff.org/%E6%9C%89%E4%B8%80%E7%A8%AE%E7%AD%89%E5%BE%85%E5%8F%AB%E6%BE%A4%E6%9D%B1/?lang=en
The 40th Hong Kong International Film Festival celebrates Jet Tone Films and its quarter century of film production. Founded in 1991 by Wong Kar-wai and Jeffrey Lau, Jet Tone Films began its now legendary repertoire with The Eagle Shooting Heroes (1993) and Ashes of Time (1994).
Aside from screening over a dozen films in the tribute program “In the Mood for Films – 25th Anniversary of Jet Tone Films,” HKIFF will also publish a special edition monograph – replete with exclusive interviews, articles, as well as a rich selection of stills, poster designs and other related photography.
While Festival publications have long been known to be available in both English and Chinese in previous editions, HKIFF regrets to inform that this year’s publication will only be in one language. Due to contractual obligations with Rizzoli, who plans to publish a volume on Wong Kar-wai this April, HKIFF is bound to publish this year’s book about Jet Tone Films solely in Chinese.
Nonetheless, fans of Jet Tone won’t have to wait much longer; In the Mood for Films is currently being printed and will be available for purchase beginning 23 March.
Special edition Moleskine notebooks celebrating Jet Tone’s 25th Anniversary are also available for sale (HKD$258). Follow our Instagram @hkiffs and you could win this!
Don’t miss the Jet Tone Films Poster Exhibition as it takes a look back at the iconic visuals and graphics that have defined Jet Tone films. The exhibit is open 21 to 28 March at the G/F Foyer of the Auditoria Building at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
HKIFF will also hold a seminar with Mr. Wong Kar-wai in conjunction with this year’s tribute program. The online registration for the “In the Mood for Films” Seminar has been filled, but limited seats may be available at the door (subject to availability). |

The keyart of HKIFF40 is designed by Mr. WONG San Mun. He has designed various film posters for Jet Tone Films, including “Happy Together”, “Eros” and “2046”. By combining a film still of "2046" with a variety of old and new visual elements, the keyart highlights the theme of travelling from the past to the future. _ from HKIFF Facebook
