Just today I watched Faye's 2004 concert DVD after buying it. She is such an amazing live performer. It's a shame that Faye appears to have completely retired from the music scene nowadays, even though she's not active in the entertainment industry surely there must still be some fans of hers on this forum? However, I can understand that she is more concerned with being a wife and mother rather than a pop star these days.

Hi Tony Obsessed

Faye Wong will be doing a series of concerts in China sometime this year.
I'm not sure if she was retired or just took a career break but her fans have something to look forward to. Fans here wont see the live concerts but some could be filmed and reach the internet.

Best wishes...mary.

Faye actually my favourite female singer. I'm really excited for her comeback! If anyone is interested, here is her performance at a CCTV New Year's Gala from a few days ago:

*Popping in quickly*

From Mingpao:
Faye Wong Fans Warned of Being Cheated
Ticket Sale Rumours Spreading Online

Rumoured to be making her comeback in October, news of Faye Wong's upcoming concerts seemed to have died down in recent days. However, yesterday a huge rumour began circulating online that Faye will begin her series of concerts on October 22nd for a 5-consecutive day run at the Beijing Wukesong Culture and Sports Centre. As of yesterday there was already one website taking pre-orders for tickets. As the rumours spread like wildfire online, many fans left messages on the website to pre-order tickets. However, Faye's manager Katie Chan has stepped forward to clarify the situation. She warned fans to be careful about being cheated.

Almost five years since she last stepped on stage, many of her loyal fans have been eagerly anticipating her comeback. Earlier there were rumours that her concert tickets would reach prices of 2000 RMB (almost $300 USD), but that has not deterred fans from wanting to see their idol in concert. However, it seems the enthusiasm for tickets have lowered slightly in recent days. Yesterday there was a website claiming to help fans pre-order tickets for her Beijing show. They even suggested her concert will begin on October 22nd. As for her Shanghai concert, they speculated it will be sometime in November at the Pudong Performance Center.

Through online discussion boards, many fans were debating the authenticity of the news. There were fans who left messages requesting to reserve tickets. However, when reporters tried to reserve tickets online, there was nothing to indicate the site was authentic, as ticket prices were not even listed. It only allowed users to leave their contact information so they can be kept updated with the latest news.

Reporters then questioned Faye's manager Katie Chan. As all the details have not been confirmed yet, she stressed that it would be impossible for tickets to be on sale at this time. So far it is only speculation that the concert will start on the 22nd. The organizers have yet to confirmed the dates. Until they hold an official press conference, everything will remain as hearsay. Katie Chan hopes that Faye fans can wait another month. She expressed there will be an official press conference next month and all the details will be released. As for rumours of Faye releasing a new album in July? Katie says, "Faye will not be releasing an album. She will only be sharing her own songs, as well as some of her favourites with her fans at the concert."

That's a shame they'll be no album. Sad Maybe that means her concert tour will be a farewell kind of thing before she bows out of showbiz for good.

Does anyone here especially from Asia know if Faye Wong has confirmed any tour dates for October yet or is it still an unconfirmed rumour at the moment? Searching the news on Google is of no help to me.

Most of the tickets for her Beijing shows have been sold out. They were released back in July.

This was translated from Mingpao July 10:

Making her comeback this October, Faye will be holding concerts at the Wukesong Culture and Sports Center in Beijing and at the Cultural Center of Shanghai World Expo in Shanghai for a total of 10 shows. Her Beijing concert dates are October 29-31 and November 5-6; Shanghai dates are November 19-20 and November 26-28. Ticket prices were announced yesterday, with the most expensive selling for $2,500 RMB, while the cheapest is at $300 RMB. Prices in the middle fall within four categories of $500, $1,000, $1,500 and $2,000 RMB.

Tickets for her Beijing shows began selling yesterday. Once the news broke out, Faye fans immediately flooded the phone lines. The $2,500 and $300 RMB tickets were sold out in 10 minutes. Based on the experience, the ticketing agency has promised to double the staff on hand to handle tickets sales for Faye's Shanghai concerts.

+++

I hope that helps! Are you planning on attending the concert? I will be in Asia the end of November and I really really really want to go to her Shanghai show. Does anyone know how to get tickets overseas? Or in HK? I don't really want to get scammed in China. LOL. Confused

Thank you for the up to date info. Unfortunately I won't be able to go to the shows as I don't live in Asia and would have to work at college around that time. I'll soon be in the final year of my degree and couldn't afford to take a holiday during term time.

Has anyone here heard any news about Faye Wong releasing a new album? Someone on another forum told me about this rumour, but I have not heard anything to this effect despite browsing Google News for articles about her recently.
