Thanks Helga for the heads up.
My choices:
Best Film - Red Cliff II (second choice: Overheard)
Best Director - John Woo
Best Actor - Simon Yam (Night & Fog) or (Echoes of the Rainbow)
Best Actress - Zhang Jing-Chu (N&F)
Best Supporting Actor - Chang Che (RC II)
Best Supporting Actress - Vicky Zhao (RC II)
Best Asian Film - Departures
Owing to the hype , I was a bit disappointed with "Bodyguards and Assassins". To me- it lacks the exquisite texture and gorgeous construction of RCII and the stylish sophistication of "Overheard".
Wouldn't be surprised, though, if it wins. |

Hello again ITMFLeung
I totally can agree with your choice - theoretically (cause I unfortunately still have not seen the Original, I keep fingers crossed for RC II, RC II, RC II........cause of Tony and John Woo- after all ! hahaha.)
"Departures" - of course !
Even I have to confess not to know most of the nominated films, I am a bit astonished about the nomination of "Shinjuku Incident" as best film - !?
See you- |

Dear cine- fan-fellows !
ARTE TV: March Programm Focal Point: "SAMURAI - Tradition" (from past till today in Dokumentaries and films)
-Yesterday I watched the worthseeing
"The Twilight Samurai " 2002 by Yoji Yamada, with an impressive acting of Hiroyuki Sanada.
-Before a sad Dokumentary about the tragic "Kamikaze" in WW 2.
-Today I´ll record "Tabu" (Gohatto)1999 by Nagisa Oshima (music by Ryuichi Sakamoto - who I often listen and like very much !)
and later a Dokumentary of Nobuyoshi Aaraki too.
Such "Japanese Evenings" - will not be able to heal my yen to distant places ! - haha |
