Q: What's Tony's E-mail Address? Can I send a message to Tony?
A: This is a fan site. If you want to write to Tony, please don't send e-mail to
my address. You may also try to contact
WKW's Jet Tone Co. now handles all of Tony's affairs.
A: Take a look at YesAsia.
Lots of Tony Movies, CDs, and books at affordable prices. Also, go to
Amazon, you may find good deals.
Q: What's the themesong of Healing Hearts?
A: Lately, this is the most commonly asked question.
I am getting overwhelmed requests from the email inquiry.
I have no idea why it's this popular, but the song is lovely enchanting.
I guess people must like it alot. The song is called "Say you Love Me" by Patti
Austin.
Q: What's the themesongs of In The Mood For Love?
A: The themesong playing over and over again in ITMFL is called Yumeiji's
Theme.
Q: Can I use a picture, audio/video clip or other information on my own site?
A: Yes, as long as it's non-profit. I would appreciate if you link back to this site.
But that's not a requirement.
Q: Who built this site?
A: This is a fan site, first created in late 97. It just kept growing and growing to today's size.
Now it's supported by INFO, a fan from Hong Kong. I have many people to thank for.
Without their contribution, the site would never come this far.
My thanks goes out to Ellen, Jenny, Seo-young, Nancy, Frida, Ngoc Hang, Hiroki, Fox,
Teresa, Kelly, Moodang, Cindy, Sobo & TongTong, and everyone who either left messages
or emailed me. I thank you all.
Q: Can anybody tell me if Tony Leung is the same actor that played in The Lover?
A: Please read the following messages before sending me an email regarding Who's the
Tony Leung in the Lover.
Tony Leung Ka-Fai, not Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, was the actor in The Lover.
It's funny this should come up. To chinese audience, Ka-Fai and Chiu-Wai are two very different actors,
but it's not as transparent to English speaking fans. Both are called Tony Leung,
Ka-Fai is nicknamed the "big" tony. Chiu-wai had to settle for the "little" tony.
If this is not complicated enough, there is also a third Tony Leung from HK
who's a musician of some sort. Hope this clears up the confusion.
Q. Where do I find Tony tv series?
A: Look up your yellow page and do a search on chinese video stores. Call them up and
find out if they carry TVB series. Please note some of his tv series were made more than
15 years ago. It might take you some effort to find them. Go to TVB's official home to check
for your local tvb carrier.
http://www.tvb.com/.
Q: I want to collect Tony magazines, Where do I find them?
A: There is a special section on
Tony Magazine Covers.
If you want to collect them, you are pretty much out of luck. These are collected by die-hard
Tony fans throughout the years. If you have some free time on your hand,
I suggest you make a trip to HK, ramping through local shops. Maybe you will find some luck.
Here is a tip for you all, if you have down times, ramping through old chinatown corners, you shall
find some backcopies of older issues. And if you are searching online, yesasia.com and ebay.com sometimes
will have good finds.
Q: Where to get Tony Autographs?
A: Again, this is not an official Tony Leung site. It's not sponsored by him or associated
to him by any means. There is no way I could get his autograph and pass it out.
If you live anywhere within Asia, you have a much greater chance of meeting him in person.
Tony goes to Japan, Korea, and Taiwan frequently to meet the local fans.
He makes public appearance in Hong Kong every once a while. If you want to stalk him down in HK,
I suggest you hang around the May Tower, where he lives now. (FYI: Again, this is an out-dated information.)
Tony makes frequent oversea trips to festivals. As you can tell by the awards
he has won, good luck spotting him when you get a chance!
A: Sure, e-mail me the url. I will add it right away.
Q: What kind of tools did you use to design this site?
A: For images, I used Adobe Photoshop 5.5, and Macromedia Firework 2.0. For HTML Editor,
I used Frontpage 2000 and good old notepad. For the flash animation, I used Macromedia Flash 4.0.
(Again, this current design is created in 2000, most of these tools have upgraded to new versions.)
Q: So what upgrades are you doing to maintain the site now?
A: As of now, I have kept the original design, and implemented several things (added wordpress
to manage the films/tv/articles entry in 2007) as well as (added coppermine photo galleries to manage the
photo uploads in 2007).
Early 2013, in order to enhance the readability of the site,
the site has gone through a major migration of phpBB boards for current discussion
and 2003-2013 discussion boards are archived for backups.
A: The answer is simple. This is the internet we are talking about. It seems as if every week
there are ground-breaking technologies coming out. If I keep the old design, not only it will bore myself
to death, but also it will bore the other users of this site. I understand some of you may like the old
design better, but I simply could not bear it any longer. It's so dull. Besides, I love to create and
design new things. It's always a challenge to come up with new ideas.
Again, this is a really out-dated Frequently Asked Questions - updated in the early 2000.
There hasn't been much of a design change on the site for a long long time.
Q: Are you curious how the previous site look like?
A: Take a look at the
wayback machine - internet archives of webpages (scanning online sites
on a periodical basis).
This site had gone through a domain change (from .org to .info in 2007).
And even earlier (1997-2001), it was hosted on
geocities.com
(by yahoo). Take a look, enjoy the journey back. Some links are clickable, and some are not.
Q: How do you keep people inform of the updates and changes happening on the site?
A: Most of the announcements are made on the discussion boards. Occasionally, the frontpage will be updated
with a promotion of Tony's new films, or his birthday party, or other major changes (that takes a bit
more efforts - so it needs to be announced). The regular updates is done on a routine basis depending on how active
people are (such as: news reports of tony sightings, movie screenings, other activities folks might be engaged in.)
Q: If I want to do a website on Tony, how do I start?
A: Get an account first.
Next, you got a choice between either hand-code HTML or use a HTML editor. There are many html tutorials on the web.
As for HTML editor, you have many options, Frontpage and Dreamweaver are excellent tools, so are hotdog,
NetFusion, GoLive. Go to http://www.download.com to download these editors.
Now you have all the tools ready, you need to sit down and start thinking how you are going to present your site.
Building a site is not hard at all, but there is a difference between good sites and bad sites.
A good site is clean,
loads quick, easy to navigate and offers good content. If a site fits all four categories, then it's already a success.
Good luck!
