You know ME as a total expert regarding botanic, I`d say this is a plant. No a flower. Laughing Yitian I have no idea. It`s beautiful, that`s all.

Not at all. I forget more then I can remember. Laughing Otherwise my cantonese would be much better. Brick wall

Oh I remember that one, too. It was in Nan Lian Garden in Diamond Hill.
Must have been one of my first "Operations" back then.

Thanks for all your wishes regarding my ... hmmm small boo-boos. Giving a kiss But as my sister would say, that`s age what do you expect!?

Not much from today except rain, rain and oh yes there was rain.

At first I went to Immigration Tower to enrole for e-channel service, wich makes immigration a bit quicker.
After that: Breakfast at Tsui Wah.

Bun, scrambled eggs and noodles with satay beef. And milk tea, of course.

I didn`t realize the eggs on the menue, so I was done with eating till dinner, except for some (Ham for you).
Egg waffles from famous egg waffle uncle in Tai O. Oh yas I went to Tai O today. At first I went to Ngong Ping but it started so much to rain that I preferred a dry bus tour.

A temple.

Another temple, I guess I`ve taken you there previously. You can see the strong wind. It was nasty today but at least it was warm, about 22/23 degrees.

And .... I don`t know how can they do that. My mom would say "this is a sin destroying nature like this".

It seems I was a bit shaky today, the pics from the crabs aren`t really good/sharp. But it`s always fun watching them, yes even when it`s raining!

And dinner, also at Tsui Wah. Fried noodles with veggies. The red sauce is hot stuff, but you don`t believe the yellow one - mustard! These are fried noodles, what would I need mustard for? Shocked

I have to tell you a story today. Helga you know me, you know what I`m wearing, casual and functional clothes and a cap. Well not lady-like stuff but that`s not my style. In about 8 out of 10 times the toilet ladies want to send me to the men`s toilet. Shocked Seems they don`t bother to look. When I tell them in cantonese to "look first, thank you!" they excuse themself several times. You know that really is annoying! Rolling Eyes

Hello Heike
Although such a situation might not be funny for you ...rather opposite Not talking d'oh! Rolling Eyes ...I had to smile at the first moment (sorry !) .... imagining the toilet ladies shock when listening your comment in cantonese Shocked ! haha )
Take it easy , Heike Smile .....perhaps they simply do not know better! scratch Confused Eh?

Hey....your pics are excellent as usual, despite the nasty and grey weather ! You obviously found very nice (dry) places to rest and strengthen yourself with a good meal Smile...on your rainy tour thumbright
Btw: These "Joss-cages" (?) in most temples you visited are looking very nice Very Happy ....I like !

I'll keep my fingers crossed for better weather conditions within the next days thumbleft
Take care !... and try to keep yourself dry and warm Waving:
Schlaf gut ! Sleepy

Helga it is funny, when it happens to you once or twice but daily?
Glad you like my temple pics, there is always so much to see with all these little statues.

Off to Macau now.

And I must say that I've enroled for e-channel service already paid off. No form to fill out at immigration. I had not even to take off my cap. Place the passport in the scanner. Fingerprint and I was done. Very Happy

Even on a raining and grey day, you seemed to have had another nice one. Tai O looks beautiful -> it immediately reminded me "Three Summers". I like that movie, now you reminded me to revisit it. BTW, I think I heard this movie is being digitally re-mastered in order to release a blu-ray disc. I maybe wrong, but have you ever heard of such a news?

The pic of the crab, the color beautifully scared me for a second - a live (not cooked) crab in bright red color Shocked - do you know if it is poisonous or not Question . Sometimes the bright color is directly associated with the level of toxicity...... Please be careful Pray .

Enjoy Macau with easy passing through immigration flower .

I agree! I have to see this one again.
About a remastered release - I have no idea, would be great I would buy it!

I have no idea about the crab. They say that colourful snakes are venomous, too. I`ve read that this is not true.
The crab pic is done with 30x zoom. It`s size is about 3 inches. So not really dangerous and far away. Laughing

Immigration in and out of HK was smooth and easy.

So today I wanted to go to Macau. This is an easy task, ferries go there every 15 minutes from Sheung Wan Macau Ferry Terminal - a 5-7 minute walk from where I live and it costs about 20€ single way.
On the way there I remembered the very first time I went to Macau I`ve seen a strange pale fish and then realized that we surpassed the habitat of the famous but endangered white/pink dolphins.
And also this time. I`ve seen 3!!! pink dolphins today. Cool That already made my day and I wasn`t even in Macau yet.

The Grand Lisboa casino - NO I did not go gambling, just passing by.

It was already noon and I haven`t had breakfast so I was hungry.
Soy chicken and duck with rice.

Nice buildings along the way.

The famous ruins of St. Paul`s

View from the ruins towards the city.

Since Helga like pics of temples. I`ve asked this one is over 120 years old.

Usually if doors are open in temples I look what`s inside and I found him.

Incense coils

Streetview

Largo de Senado

View from Monte Fort next to the ruins. It was a wet day today - again, but like yeseterday it was warm. In the later afternoon it got better and the rain stopped.

View towards the other side.

I also tried a portugese style egg tart. Can someone please tell me the difference!?

Another streetview. I love those small streets.

Today no cinema for me. The last 2 days I went to the cinema before returning "home", I forgot to mention that. Confused I`m tired.

The casino looks very tall and is definitely an impressive lump comparing to the surroundings Shocked . I guess it would be very colorful at night Very Happy .

Like you, I don't gamble, so the temples and statues are more interesting to me...... Do you know whether every temple has this red faced guy live in it? I bet you know the answer Wink . By the way, I was going to ask you the day before yesterday but forgot at the end, do you know what are the cone shaped spiral things hanging from above, and what is the significance of these things Think ?

As for Portuguese egg tart, I like it much better than the standard ones. No reasons, it just tastes great. Of course not all Portuguese egg tarts are created equal. I had my best ones in Portugal, but I haven't found anything nearly as good in US Shocked . The one you had should be good, since it was made in Macau Very Happy .....

This is another day in HK. Have a good day sunny .

Oh yes, there are temples without my friend.

Yitian these coils are incense coils. In the above pics you can see a paper hanging inside them. As far as I know one writes wishes or prayers on these papers and the smoke of the incense carries them to the gods. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.
If I can find a furled incense coil I'll take a pic.

Darn it's hard to type on a bumping tram. Very Happy

Today started with rain, so much that I stayed in bed.
Later I went for breakfast at Sang Kee. Preserved egg and meat congee, fried breadsticks and a mixture of coffee and milk tea.

Since it was raining every now and then I hopped on a tram and went all the way to Shau Kei Wan, the eastern side of HK island.
At a Tin Hau temple there I found what I was looking for, Yitian.

Incense coils, you can see the paper inside.

And a furled one. I had to lift the cardboard a bit. Wink

Today I had a sweet tooth again.
Egg tart and something filled with red bean.
I honestly wonder why they are using plastic bags instead of paper ones.

And later a sweet black sesame paste.

Then I went to the Tin Hau temple near Tin Hau MTR station.

Nice little statures on and below the roof.

After that I went to the cinema.

Dinner. Fried instant noodles with pork chop in XO sauce.

On my way home a man was passing by me running like close to a finish line of a race and at first I thought "wow, a sporty fellow" BUT that guy was chased by two not so sporty fellows and the last one desperately calling for the police in cantonese. No idea what happened but they didn`t get him for sure, he was way too fast. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for informing me this so quickly, with extra effort by writing on a bumping tram. More thanks for finding and taking pictures of these coils - they are so beautiful, especially the color love .

I am familiar with all foods you had today, yummy Drool . BTW, Could you tell the difference between the 2 egg tarts Wink .

The Macau-pics are very impressive Very Happy Isn't it amazing to see the completely different Colonial Portugese Architecture within a short time ? Shocked
Many details...like the typically pavement....the style of buildings.....or those delishes egg tarts Wink , are reminding me of beautiful Lisboa.
Many thanks for educating us...regarding these wonderful " Incense coils"....and the paper inside.

You mean the portugese and HK style?
The portugese cost 10 macanese pataca and the HK one 6.5 HK$ Laughing
If you mean taste-wise. They both are really good. That`s good enough for me. Angel

You are very much welcome Ham!
I haven`t had food which I didn`t like - yet. It was really good.
The weather this time is almost as wet as last year but the good thing is it`s a bit warmer. In the last ~8 days almost each day with showers during the day. No weather for hiking. But HK offers so much, for every kind of weather.
