This morning I suddenly realized, today is the funeral of my brother in law`s father. He died after I left for HK. Another funeral in our family within a few weeks.Sad
So I decided the least I can do is a little pilgrimage, sort of. So Lantau it is.

I guess you know him already from last year.

Po Lin monastery from up the hill. The construction of the bigger building in the back is going on since a few years already. Can`t wait till it`s finished.

Pretty nature along The Wisdom Path, not sure if I gained any ... wisdom I mean. scratch

I was told by a young couple, that these are Buddhas words. Anybody can give me translation, please? At least of one. Pray Pleeese.

Temple in Tai O.
In some cultures this is an offensive gesture. But he looks powerful, doesn`t he?

In Tai O I`ve spent a little more time walking around then usual and found a sign post "Cemetery". I thought chinese cemetery are usually up the hill AND have a nice view. Idea So I went up some really exhausing steps and ...
Tai O from up the hill.

... it was worth it, don`t you think?

Tomorrow I might go to Stanley, not sure yet.

Oh I nearly forgot. Any wishes regarding pics? More food? Or anything else? Tell me, if it`s possible I`ll do it.

Very nice Lantau-pics dear Heike Smile
I feel sorry for you, you had a second big loss in your family...within a few weeks. Guess your visit to the giant Buddha and the ancient cementary was the best you could do in your situation.
Regarding your HK reportage:
You'll probably get the titlle as " TL forum's official photo-reporter " (Section Europe) soon Laughing....Simply keep on doing just the way you do... and like. In my view, you do a great job.(a mix of nice pics and short informations Smile)
Here a cooler Easter-weekend is coming soon....guess yiu will not miss
Wink See you !...hopefully soon again Smile

Sorry to hear you loss Heike, wish the Giant Buddha give you calm and strength.
Love your pics, all of them Very Happy . In your pic of a forest of Buddha's words, I noticed one (the only one I can read clearly) saying "不生不滅不垢不淨" - this is part of "The Heart Sutra". My English is too poor to properly translate the true meaning Sad - Maybe you can read several versions of translated "心經" online and appreciate the wisdom of the entire piece from there sunny .

Thanks a lot Yitian, that`s a big help. Giving a kiss I`ve read a book about the Heart Sutra and explanations to it some time ago.

In my opinion, taking the bus to The Peak is more fun, in addition no endless queuing up and cheaper. Wink

Glad you like the pics.

OK, friends another day.
Yesterday I went to Stanley.

Stanley from above.

Anyone in the mood for a little shopping?

Scary if you zoom in. Was about as big as my hand.

Today I went to The Peak again in hope for a clear view - no dice. And since the easter holidays started today it was like war up there. I`ve never seen that place that crowded. What to do: Back to my cozy little island. But of course there was like war as well. I even had to queue up and wait for about 30 minutes to get on a ferry back to Yung Shue Wan. Anyway, that gave me a chance to discover the paths of YSW away from main street.
Found a small temple. Can someone confirm that this is Guan Gung as well? But with different attribute? The weapon is missing. Anyone?

On the way back I`ve seen an old lady selling this and was on cloud nine. No idea what the name is, but it`s filled with red bean and I love it. If you check "Operation HK the 12th" back then I also was looking for this stuff but couldn`t find it. Any help with the cantonese name?

Tomorow I will meet Eri. Very Happy

And another highlight ahead:YSW Tin Hau Festival with cantonese opera is from tomorrow till wednesday and dragon boat races are on the 20th.
