Time flies, have a safe journey home Heike .
Thanks for all the pics you shared with us here , especially for those of us who have never set foot in HK.
You’ve caught a lot of exotic things with your fancy camera lens (hope you didn’t tough that red colored plant – it looks to me like an poisonous seed pot; nor that turquois blue lizard ) . Surely they are so pretty to see .
BTW, I was wondering while going through your beautiful pics – Why HK, a city by the sea, should have so many high points (as high as 1km) ….. This alone makes HK a mysteriously wonderful place .
Surely you will go again next year . |

dear Heike, thank you for sharing the beautiful pics and your experience in HK It should have been very tough going up to the Lantau peak with your heavy backpack! I wish I was there, too. I have never hiked in Lantau yet. And I told you it would be very crowded in Cheung Chau la.......
Hope you have safely arrived home. And maybe see you again later this year |

Dear Yitian, actually the majority of land in HK is mountain (that's why real estate prices here are so expensive ). The Lantau peak Heike went up is the second highest mountain in HK. The highest one is Tai Mo Shan (957 meters). And there are so many hiking routes here. I think even if we go hiking every weekend, we can't finish all of them in two years!
Maybe I can share some pics taken during my hiking last year:
This is the famous Tai Long Sai Wan (大浪西灣) in Sai Kung.
The other three beaches beside Tai Long Sai Wan
Still Sai Kung, mountains and sea
The Lion Rock (獅子山) between Kowloon and New Territory
Ma On Shan (馬鞍山)
Shing Mun Reservior(城門水塘)

Haha yes Tina, you did. But that`s what I so very much like about HK, there are always other opportunities to go to different places.
Btw, the Lantau peak was not hiking, more climbing. _________________ Water which is too pure has no fish. |

I remember reading an article in which the British referred to HK as "worthless rock in the south china sea".

Thank you for sharing nice pictures, Hanasan.
Heike,
Do you remember that in the movie The Midnight After, all the people except passengers of the Red Mini Bus were disappeared when they were passing the Lion Rock.
Looks like a mysterious place. |

Sooo, I promised you some food pics:
At Lung Kong in Yung Shue Wan: Chicken, mushrooms, sweet corn and rice ...
... my sister said it looks like "dirt with gravy".
Chicken, tomatoes, rice and iced lemon tea at Mr Ma in Yung Shue Wan.
Sweet and sour pork at Rainbow Seafood in Sok Kwu Wan
My beloved Lemon Chicken at Toby Inn in Stanley
Breakfast in my rocking chair on my balkony, egg tart, pineapple bun and tea
Shrimp, veggies and rice on Cheung Chau
As far as I remember that was chicken with black bean, Lung Kong YSW
At Ming Fat Spicy Crab (former Aberdeen Seafood) my favorite dai paai dong near temple street night market. Salt and pepper pork chops
Dim sum with Tina
Hey and I didn`t even gain some weight, must have been the kilometers of walking and of course the Lantau Peak - hahaha
So friends, this should be it. Hope I could show you a bit of "my HK".
I should add, to upload these 10 photos took less then 15 minutes. This is how sloowww the internet connection on Lamma really is. _________________ Water which is too pure has no fish. |

Dear Tina, thank you so much for showing us pics of beautiful mountains and water of HK .
I checked HK topography on Google, just as you say, it is incredible how little area (in purple, as developed area) is at sea level. I still think it is rare to have so many mountains on the east coast (most of it is as flat as a pancake) .
Heike, it seems you love TsingTao Beer. I heard it is brewed based on German beer making technology, so it tastes very much like German beer.
Thanks again for all the pics and reports. Dim Sum with Tina looks really nice . Look forward to reading Operation HK 2015 . |

Oh how much I would like to have one of those ... or just could smell it ... or feel and smell the seabreeze ... or the temperature which is now in HK ... it`s 5 degrees here. I`m already homesick.
Have to start to work tomorrow - late shift. _________________ Water which is too pure has no fish.

Oh Yitian, I do. Even at home I`m seldom without. As far as I know, this brewery was founded by Germans. The beer doesn`t taste much like German beer, because we do not use rice - the purity requirements do not permit rice as an ingredient. The taste of TsingTao is more like the US Miller beer, which I like as well.

Glad you like the pics. I also had Dim Sum with Agnes, but took the pics too late, half of the food was already gone when I thought of making some pics . Hey, I even had chickenfeet there. My very first!
I hope that I can give you a Operation HK 2015, you never know what will happen within a year. Or some of you just accompany me in person, how about that? _________________ Water which is too pure has no fish. |

One can get TsingTao in US too, with a little difficulties .
