Thank you very much for this instructive link, Eri
Hope aa lot of people think this way - and Mr. Murakami himself will be one of the writers to treat this topic - and to encourage people.
(With "After The Quake" and "Underground" for example, he already has thematized bad occurrences in the near past of your country)
Looking forward to the translated speech : )
Helga
BTW: I recently finished his "1Q84" - and enjoyed to space out into his "Cosmos" once more ! |

Hi Eri,
I hope and pray those big problems are contained/resolved in time. I wish you and your loved ones safety and good health.
I also wish the same for our co-fans and for my other fav actor- Takenouchi Yutaka.
Btw, I browse JapanToday too, everyday. Great site.
Hi Helga,
How are you? Thanks for helping to "keep the lights on" in this forum.
It gets to be lonely sometimes.
Take care guys.

Hi Eri, Helga and Joe
I've been very busy working around the clock.
Joe, are you checking Japan Today?
Have you seen this article below..(i.e.photo )
May the "horse" be with you..
http://www.japantoday.com/category/picture-of-the-day/view/may-the-horse-be-with-you
(Forgive me that i just need a good laugh. LOL )
Hi Helga,
I found Murakami's latest work very easy to read and understand compared to
his past writings. ( so some of his very enthusiatic fans find it below their high expectations)
Can't believe it's already 3 months after 3.11.
Tokyo's getting back to normal day by day as if nothing has happened.....
but our way of thinking toward life , death and future generations have changed.
I 'm really interested what Mr. Murakami will come up with his next story...

Hi guys.
Yuka, I love it! ha ha...I guess it takes away from the worries and anxieties. Good for him. It's also a sign that life is back to normal.
I'm glad to hear that Yuka.
Take care,
Joe |

Hello Helga,
Thank you for your kind concern.
Some earthquakes (not so strong) again recently in the North East area, but fortunately no Tsunami. Small quakes just now according to the TV news (which I didn't feel in my area).
It seems still very difficult to deal with contaminated water (one of the pipes got burst yesterday) and contaminated soil, also there are hygiene problem because of huge amount of rotten fish all over the places still in Tsunami affected areas. Of course, people there are worried, specially mothers with small children.
Although it was such a big scale damage and certainly takes long time to recover, some railways and roads were reopened that should make their life a little easier.
BTW, how are you after our meeting ?

Hi Refuelled Helga,
I felt quite a big shake yesterday because my office is on the higher floor.
Glad there's not so many damages done in the northern region this time.
Looking forward to reading your HK report . Please send it to me when it's completed.
Hope someone will refuel me, soon ....

Hello Yuka !
Glad to hear there were no worse damages - strong shaking is worse enough !
Here some very hot summerdays and most often no air-conditioning in offices ......you will have an idea currently.....("Office-Mushrooms" harvest-fresh already ? )
I wish I could help you to recharge your batteries.....brave girl - but as long as you send us such funny links, I need not worry about you
And better times will come !
Cheers

Dear Yuka !
I wish I could buy you some days.......; (.....poor but brave girl !
Here a very capricious summer with very hot days - and cooling down 15 -20 degrees the next days: ( ......
Your "fish-link" reminds me: I have to cancel my beloved daily morning-swim very often this summer - unfortunately : (
Unfair "weather-distribution" - haha
Bear up ! - cooler times will come : )
Dearest greetings
