Asia’s 25 greatest actors of all time | CNNGo.com

Hong Kong: Tony Leung Chiu-Wai
Tony Leung is called 'Asia’s answer to Clark Gable' and the finest Hong Kong actor of his generation. His collaborations with director Wong Kar-wai include “Chungking Express,” “Happy Together” and “In the Mood for Love.” The quiet, emotional intensity of his craft has earned him three Best Actor statues at the Golden Horse Awards.

Best Role: Leung took home Best Actor at Cannes for 2000’s “In the Mood for Love.” His performance as a betrayed spouse who falls into a complex relationship with his neighbor still haunts viewers.

TL definitely is among the top 3 in any "Greatest Asian Actors" list.
This one, however, appears to be in no particular order, though is grouped obviously by country.
I'm glad LC made the cut also.

Thanks for the post and the link.

yep, no doubt about Wai being amongst the top 3 in Hk. Not sure how those 2 from Singapore can be placed on the same list as Wai, Leslie, Gong Li etc.... Probably because they are the few who have acted in Hollywood movies. But they are nowhere close in terms of acting.... I kind of feel embarassed for my country....

19 Most Beautiful Men from Hong Kong Cinema (CNNGo.com)

Tony ranked 2nd after Leslie Cheung.

2. Tony Leung Chiu-wai: The Clark Gable of Asia

Tony Leung Chiu-wai's talent is irresistible. De Niro openly admires him. Maggie Cheung adores him. Wong Kar-wai built a career on him. His acting has an incredible range of depth, from wholesome heroes that you can take home to impress your dad with, to evil villains like the so-scary-he's-sexy one in "Lust, Caution." The Cannes Film Festival winner tells his fans that off-set he is "very restrained, very suppressed, very quiet" and that it is only through acting that he can express his emotions without being embarrassed. It's this abandonment of inhibitions in his work that has a magnetic power over cinema-goers.

Entertainment Weekly: 24 International Hotties

TONY LEUNG CHIU-WAI
HAILS FROM: Hong Kong
SEXIEST IN: In the Mood for Love (2001)

If another working actor in the entire world looks better in a tailored suit while smoking a cigarette, we have yet to come across him. Setting hearts aflutter and nerve endings aquiver with a mere nuanced flick of his eyes, Leung is Hong Kong cinema's answer to Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, and Cary Grant. But make no mistake, take one look at Leung in those NC-17-rated sex scenes in director Ang Lee's 2007 film Lust, Caution, and you'll know for certain he's a 21st-century movie star.

Entertainment Weekly: 50 Actors We'd Watch in Anything

TONY LEUNG

Swordsman. Gangster. Detective. Stylist. Writer. Gigolo. Tony Leung Chiu Wai has already played nearly every role there is. Need more proof of his skills? Take his character from Wong Kar Wai's 2046 and In The Mood For Love — he plays the same man, but at two extremes of empathy. His kind of talent can handle any part. —Jef Castro
