I've had many opportunities to buy 2046, and watch it on DVD, but I've been postponing it because I wanted my first viewing to be on the silver screen-- I don’t want to cheat myself from enjoying this much talked about movie. I've just gotten a movie pass for advance screening to watch this film next Tuesday at a theater in Boston. It's so cool!

Read from the New York Post that Zhang Zi Yi is staying in NYC this month to take English classes at a school housed in the Empire State Building.

I've not watched 2046 on bug screen as it is not screened in Malaysia. I am sure the visuals would be stunning.

Enjoy the film news Very Happy

Thanks Looney Tune. I'm also looking forward to see how the audience will react to Tony's performance besides the film itself. Wink Hmm.. I presume 2046 would have made it round of screenings across Asia prior its hit the U.S.-- I guess we aren't that behind after all.

Sigh...I don't think 2046 will ever make it to the big screen here in Malaysia. It has too many scenes that couldn't get through our censorship board..... Sad

I was at the 6:45 pm screening this past Saturday at the Varsity.

I'd already seen it on DVD, but went with someone who'd saved it for the big screen.

The theatre was about 2/3's full, and the audience was mostly non-Asian.

The subtitles were improved from the DVD.

In the opening credits, it appeared to me, that when Gong Li's name in Chinese characters flashed on the screen, the English subtitle showed "Faye Wong", and when Faye Wong's name came up in Chinese characters, the English subtitle was "Gong Li".

In some spots, the colours in the DVD version were more vivid and less grainy than the theatrical print.

Side note- the theatrical print of "Infernal Affairs" - which was known for its cinematography - was quite horrid. I was looking forward to seeing those shots of Hong Kong's skyline against that sunny, blue sky on the big screen - but it looked more overcast and gray.

After "2046" ended, quite a few people stayed for the end credits - a good sign I think Smile

Caught 2046— there were two screenings at two different locations in Boston last night.

I couldn't have asked for more respectful, cooperative, and fun audiences. Approximately 90% packed, age ranging from mid-20s to low-60s—and there were 15 Asians topped. The audiences were laughing at the right scenes, cellphones interruptions were absence, and sporadic “whispered” were found among few people throughout the film. It's the best foreign film watching experience I've had in the cinema.

Tony stole the show among the A-list actors-- his astonishing performance was imprinted on my mind and remembered most when I walked away from the theater. This Mr. Chow is philandering, playful, mean, and a partygoer-- which it allows Tony to stretch his acting talent and showcases his versatility—the opposite of the “tranquil and reserved Tony” in real life. I’m opting out commenting on the ladies because with few words I could barely scratch the surface so, I chose not to discuss about them.

In term of plot, ITMFL is easier to follow on a single viewing with no shifting of variety of characters and the presence and the future. 2046 is a brilliant film with stunning visual images and the SCORE is greater. With repeat viewings, I know I’ll like it more and more-- and catch things that I missed from first screening. I liked the dialogues; it was funny! Seeing the final product, now I understood why it took that long to complete the project-- WKW must be pleased and contented that it finished.

Each person who walks out of WKW's movies has his/her interpretations of the film, counting from character's occupation like ZZY could be called a "working girl” (my friend’s analysis) or “hostess."

As 2046 reaches its week # 10, Sony gradually decreases the number of the theater it's showing. At the moment, it's screening at 26 locations across the U.S. I don't know which city they're showing at. Perhaps, you could conduct a research to find out.

Don't know how far SF is away from SJ, 2046 is hitting SF's theater per below listing.
