I don't profess to speak Chinese, so I don't know the actual translation of his name, but, Chiu Wai is his given name... Leung is his family name. Tony is just a western name he chose for himself, as many Asians in the entertainment industry and otherwise, seem to do... and step in anyone and correct me if I'm wrong.
I have Chinese friends here in my country named David, Kevin, Helen and Andy. But their given names on their driver's licenses are Sheng Guang, Xiao Lung, Xiao Chun and Rui Chen (obviously, I won't give their family names).
So, if you were Tony's mother or sister, I'm sure you'd be calling him Chiu Wai. Does that make sense?

Well, I think according to the way we pronunce the word "Chiu", Chiu's correct meaning here should be dynasty. _________________ 世情笑、人寂寥、壯懷誰留向晚照 |

Thanks Franka,
I love learning new things... I wish I could hear the difference in pronunciation between chiu - dynasty and chiu - morning. Thanks for clearing it up.

argh~ the difference in pronunciation between chiu - dynasty and chiu - morning? It's hard to explain~Who can help me~I don't know how to explain this
I'll try..........
chiu in dynasty sounds more like "chao"
and the morning meaning sounds like "zhao" or "jao"
I checked the dictionary _________________ 世情笑、人寂寥、壯懷誰留向晚照 |

Yes, to choose a name for oneself... Nice!
On the other hand, I would really like to know how my first name would be translated into Chinese.
Desiree - means the desired
How would that be?
Anyway, I am glad to know the meanings of Chiu Wai and I am amazed how well they fit to HIM! _________________ Kind Regards,

Desire? in Chinese that is 希("xi" or "shi") 望(wang) or 期(chi) 望(wang)
shi means "hope" and wang means "look"
chi has a lot of meanings, but I think it will also be hope here. _________________ 世情笑、人寂寥、壯懷誰留向晚照 |
