Very Happy Thanks Garfield.... it's good to see Tony's warm tender smile with Lawrence Block...and his wife? or editor?.... anyway the photo freezes the moment of very much serene and peaceful in mutual respect and warmth...between Tony and Lawrence Block..
(...I myself like reading including thriller/mystery and off course his novels too especially since the time when I read the 8 million to die..and his short novels are very interesting as I wrote before)

I am looking forward to see Tony in the Vogue...must be edgy cool gorgeous of Tony.... Cool
Newsweek will be focusing on Tony as well.. as one the most treasure 5 actors/actresses of this summer? Very Happy goooood start for the fall movie season, isn’t it?
cheers

Anyway, most of all Cool Very Happy , I am glad to see his soft and tender smile on his face in the photo...that is the best to see and make me happy always. Smile sunny cheers
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Oh...BTW... I will make summary for the article (well, im not chinese and cannot read chinese then firstly im using rough yahoo automatic translation from Chinese to Japanese....then I made translation from the rough translation to English)

Source from Garfield's post sourced from Newspaper appledaily 梁朝偉在美受「總統級」待遇 娛 樂 — 娛 樂 要 聞

Tony has made 3 weeks promotion trip in the USA for the film 2046 while visiting NYC, Chicago, LA and Dallas etc...from EAST to West, so many cities in the USA! Almost 100 media have interviewed Tony then he made declared himself as feeling like a president candidate on a tough election campaign in the USA! Critiques cannot stop raising their applause towards Tony after they watched the film 2046 so that the newspaper NewYorkTimes focused on Tony as one of the most valuable treasure actors/actresses in this summer on their 8th May issue.

Tony also could make it to meet with his dream of novelist, Lawrence Block in NYC. At the meeting with Lawrence Block, Lawrence Block told that Block might write a film script, inspired by Tony Smile , in imaging Tony as a detective to catch a killer.

Also, Vogue made Tony's appearance in its issue ...(I could not read/see the articles in Vogue last time except the photos in this site or else though) This time, the famous female photographer, Karin Catt took his photos... Cool

PS; I suppose that the Vogue Tony made his appearance this time is going to be put on the USA market on 6th September 2005 for their very first issue of the mens version of the VOGUE magazine in the USA as I wrote my later posts.
Tony's photo will be, I suppose, then lavishly on the very first memorable issue of the MENS VOGUE from the VOGUE Very Happy

Goodnight dearest Tony love (if you still in the USA) and all
Goodday all

I love reading NYT long time, as well as other papers such as WP, LT, NP, LP...etc -but not so often recently compared with before though.

Five Actors to Watch This Summer
By KAREN DURBIN

Published: May 8, 2005

Tony Leung Chiu-wai

At 42, Tony Leung Chiu-wai is a huge star in Asia, with more than 60 movies to his credit. But it was just four years ago that "In the Mood for Love," Wong Kar-wai's meditation on loss and desire, introduced him to nonspecialized American audiences. As a figure of ravishing sadness, Mr. Leung's gentle newspaperman, Chow Mo Wan, has no equal. With the smallest gestures - the tilt of his body, the lift of a hand, a quickly shuttered glance - he conveys his intense but discreet yearning for the woman who ultimately refuses him. It's safe to say that some of the anticipation here for Mr. Wong's new film, "2046," a sequel to "In the Mood for Love," has to do with audiences' desire to see Mr. Leung's enchanting character again.

They're in for a shock. In "2046" (Aug. 5), he plays what an earlier generation of women called a patent-leather man. Throwing his life away at a hot-sheets Hong Kong hotel called the Oriental, he's a charming smoothie, with slick black hair that catches the light and a cheesy, pencil-thin mustache. Last seen in "In the Mood for Love" confiding his heartbreak to Cambodia's ancient ruins, Chow was the ultimate romantic. In "2046," romance is dead, and so is something in him.

Chow retains some of the generosity that made him so appealing in the earlier film. But he can also be repellent, starting with that mustache, which robs Mr. Leung's face of its sweetness, and which he insisted upon over the director's objections. When Chow amiably rejects the advances of a pretty young prostitute (Ziyi Zhang) who's fallen for him, Mr. Leung puts a subtle edge of boredom on the rebuff, which makes it cut like a knife. He dashes the viewer's hopes just as coolly. In a recurring motif, characters retreat to the Oriental's roof to contemplate life-changing decisions. When Chow appears, you think that he'll let go of the past and recover his humanity. But as Mr. Leung's faintly amused gaze makes clear, he's just there for a smoke. He lets us glimpse Chow's suffering only in the tiny intervals after he leaves a companion; then the smiling bonhomie or flirtatiousness falls away, revealing the bleak eyes and weary solitude of a man in thrall to a perverse fidelity: the refusal to heal.

NYT has written a bio of Tony and has other info including: News & Reviews, Awards, and Filmography sections on its website.

New York Times's bio of Tony
----------------------------------

BIOGRAPHY MORE ON Tony Leung Chiu-Wai

Tony Leung Chiu-Wai

Actor : Born June 27, 1962 - Hong Kong

From All Movie Guide: One of the most sought-after actors in East Asia, Tony Leung Chiu-wai made his mark on world cinema for his work with high profile directors like John Woo, Wong Kar-wai, and Hou Hsiao-hsien. He got his start as a television actor and children's show host, and quickly made the jump into Hong Kong's thriving mid-'80s film industry, where he proved his versatility in a string of movies by Hong Kong heavyweights like Stanley Kwan (Love Unto Waste), Patrick Tam (My Heart Is That Eternal Rose) and Sammo Hung (Seven Warriors). But it wasn't until his first foray outside of Hong Kong's movie industry -- a moving portrayal of a hearing-impaired photographer in Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien's historical epic A City of Sadness -- that the full range of his talent became apparent.

International recognition began to come Leung's way in the 1990s, thanks to roles in Woo's operatic action thrillers Bullet in the Head and Hard-Boiled, and to a fruitful long-term collaboration with the acclaimed Hong Kong auteur Wong Kar-wai, with whom he has made five films. His gently humorous performance as a lovesick policeman in Wong's international cult hit Chungking Express won him a Best Actor Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, as did his turn as a depressed homosexual exile going through a stormy breakup in Happy Together. He and Maggie Cheung both won top honors at the Hong Kong Film Awards for their performances as neighbors who suspect their spouses of having an affair in the sumptuous chamber romance In the Mood for Love, for which Leung also won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Leung's relaxed charm and matinee-idol looks make it easy to overlook the complexity of his performances. His most memorable ones are the result of working with directors attuned to his talent for suggesting the conflicted inner lives of his characters through introspective silences and subtle gestures. In Hou's Flowers of Shanghai and Anh Hung Tran's Cyclo, entire scenes seem to revolve around his melancholy, nearly wordless performances. While he is known worldwide for his high-profile work with Hou, Wong, and Woo, he is an even bigger star in Hong Kong, where he continues to star in everything from B-movies to glossy, big studio productions. ~ Tom Vick, All Movie Guide
