Thanks Lemonberry for the news! Maggie looks cheerful with her bright smile. Tony looks a bit shorter standing next to Maggie with her heels particularly in the first photo. Embarassed Hmm... how come Tony didn't bring Carina to the Expo?

I think he looks shorter because of the way his legs are bent in walking. Thanks for the news! Maybe Tony didn't bring anyone because it was invites only?

I think they had paired up Tony to walk down the red carpet with Maggie.
As for Tony looking shorter than Maggie. I had heard that Tony is not that tall in person and since Maggie has heels on, she would looked taller.

The look good, infact maggie looks younger.... guess she is happy, and that radiance signify a contented being. I've know some very fabulous couples with the lady being taller. And in such cases, the man is more loving Question Laughing Wink

Yes, do decipher what they are saying.

What a big night; a lot of A list stars were presence.
--------
(3/22/2005)

The Hong Kong Entertainment Expo last night kicked off at the Convention Center. Acting chief executive Donald Tsang Yam Kuen attended. Many film professionals came to support the event like Chow Yun Fat, Jackie Chan, Tony Leung Chiu Wai (Entertainment Expo entertainment ambassador), Maggie Cheung Man Yuk, Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To), Teresa Cheung Siu Wai, Cheung Man, Coco Lee Man (Hong Kong Entertainment Expo international ambassador, Leo Ku Kui Ke, Feng Xiaogang, Raymond Chow Man Wai and Peter Lam Kin Ngok. Leung Chiu Wai arrived with Cheung Man Yuk.

Tsang Yam Kuen presented two awards, the most anticipated onscreen couple award which went to Leung Chiu Wai and Cheung Man Yuk, and the most unforgettable film character award which went to Chow Yun Fat's Mark Gor in A BETTER TOMORROW (YING HUNG BOON SIK). 60,000 people voted online for these awards. Leung Chiu Wai said that he was honored to be the entertainment ambassador, and joked that he was not a good salesman but a great product. When Leung Chiu Wai accepted the award, the host asked him to invite his good friend Cheung Man Yuk to the stage. He expressed that she was not only his good friend but also his good working partner. Wai Jai said that elevating film quality itself was the most important and at the same time film professionals should strengthen themselves. He agreed with he and Cheung Man Yuk winning the most anticipated onscreen couple because IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (FA YEUNG NIN WA) was truly very successful. In addition they have worked together many times and have a chemistry. Personally they were good friends, but in the short run they would not work together again. This year he will only work on Andrew Lau Wai Keung's film and at the time he has to learn Wing Chun for Wong Kar Wai's film. As for rumors that he and Andy Lau Tak Wa were fighting to play Emperor Qin, he said that he dared not. However he has only accepted a Cao Cao like script. Since he was resting and was not prepare to work on another film, he has not seen the script.

Chow Yun Fat felt that this Expo was very meaningful, especially since Hong Kong has the title of Eastern Hollywood. This time over 200 nations and regions will participate so everyone had to support it even more; originally he was slated to start work in April but now it has been postponed until mid May. His schedule of working on four films this year now has been reduced to three.

When he accepted his award he said, "I have to thank 'Golden Princess' film company, Tsui Hark, Ng Yu Sum (John Woo), and the cast and crew of A BETTER TOMORROW."

Last night nine recommended films were screened. EVERLASTING REGRET (CHEUNG HUNG GOR) was still in production and the media were kept from reporting about it. Jackie Chan started with the Hong Kong film history in English and Mandarin. He expressed that everyone should not just support the Oscars and should support anything made in Hong Kong. This type of expo should be held annually.
Jackie started 43 years ago. He said that he started as a child star to today when he is a small company's little boss. Although it was only 43 years he was still very young; he remembered when he made his first movie foreigners did ot know what Hong Kong film was. Now he is proud to be a Hong Kong film professionals. Before he wrapped up his speech he humorously apologized for his "Jackie Chan English". The event then showed a 10 minute Hong Kong classic film highlight. Under the leadership of conductor Yip Wing Sze the band played hits of superstars like Anita Mui Yim Fong and Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing.

Sammi Cheng Sau Man has had endless gossips since work started on EVERLASTING REGRET. Stanley Kwan Kam Peng believed that the truth will reveal itself. As for claims that Yumiko Cheng Hei Yi's acting was better than Sammi's, Ah Kwan said she has not started work yet and will head to Shanghai with them today. Sammi admitted that she was sick and she was not to blame. For this film she has quitted music for four to five months to focus on work in Shanghai. She hoped that everyone could see her sincerity and know tha she is a focused actor. The film will wrap in half a month. Then she will properly rest. Although she has had a lot of negative news she did not mind.

The Expo's opening film was DIVERGENCE (SAM CHA HUA), which also held its premiere last night
