Tony was in Shanghai filming a new commercial for green tea drink. The main part of the commercial is done on a bike, and has a certain degree of difficulty. A stunt double was hired to carry out the more demanding actions. However, Tony requested to do the maneuvers himself. Additional safety precaution was taken to prevent any injuries to Tony. But however, mishaps happened…..
In the commercial, Tony garbed in leather outfit, was supposed to drive the bike through two burning vehicles. The bike went forward slowly, and Tony was not wearing any helmet. He went through the vehicles, but lost its balance while stopping, and slipped. Luckily Tony wasn’t injured.
Afternoon’s filming seems to be less demanding. Tony just had to take off the leather jacket to reveal a translucent shirt, lean against the bike, take a swig of the drink, deliver the commercial tagline, and activate his electric eyes. However, the seemingly easy take took Tony several hours to complete. The problem lies in his Mandarin pronunciation, and the commercial was done with live recording. The one tag line “pure, thirst quenching, great tasting…” turned into something totally different after Tony is done with it. (For those who don’t understand Mandarin, a slight change in intonation would have a completely different meaning. Hence it is not surprising that Tony is having difficulty.) It sounded like “Gan Cun (literally means dry inches), jacket, thirsty…”. After several takes, Tony finally made it. But it was noted that Tony looked tired, probably worn out from turning on his “megawatts” eyes for too long.
He is expected to meet up with Carina who is filming in Shanghai, but likelihood of him turning up for the film festival is small. |
