Watching two most different Tony-movies on one day.
Once again I was reconfirmed of or idol´s extraordinary acting skills and versatility. His presence is simply astonishing - emphatic - whether in serious drama or in light comedy ....- he acts sovereign - as ever !!! |

I've just watched My Lucky Star recently too. It's an enjoyable movie but for light comedy, I love Chinese Odyssey 2002 most... watched that many times and still not get bored. _________________ Sorry! I'm a cop! |

You are right redfox - there are better comedies with Tony ; )
I did not praise the movie - but Tony´s wholheartedness and ability - in every role |

Helga- that's an interesting combination
I've seen MLS as well as 'Your Place Or Mine' and 'Love Me, Love My Money'.
When I'm feeling a little stressed out or down, those are the kind of movies I want to watch. In general, I do enjoy watching the Idol's early comedies very much- they are a breath of fresh air.
Cheers

Hello Joe -
Hahaha yes, an interesting "experiment"
Regarding "older Tony-comedies"......I see, I´ll have to catch up a lot (Any recommendations with special "fun-factor"?)

I like My lucky Star too...even without subtitling I know what is going on. Feng Shui was (or is) very popular here a couple of years ago. I even considered not to buy my house because of the mortuary that is opposite the street.
But the front door seems to be well positioned to stop cha coming in....
Otherwise I had to call for a feng shui master right away...preferably..well you know....;D |

In addition to "My Lucky Star" and "Chinese Odyssey 2002", I also like "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Father", "Gorgeous", "Seoul Raiders" and many others. Although it's a supporting role in "Gorgeous", Tony is overwhelmingly funny and dominant in all his scenes. Boy, he's handsome and funny in "Seoul Raiders".
I could go on and on and on... |

Hey Helga,
I really liked the Idol in "Love Me, Love My Money" so I would recommend that. And the lovely Shu Qi is a bonus.
She is in "Gorgeous" too and yitian is right- TL, though not the lead actor in this movie, steals the scenes that he is in. He plays a gay guy.

Thank you for your personal recommendations, kind guys !
Regarding "Gorgeous" I totally agree with your point of view - Tony as supporting actor "steals the show "(in best sense) -
Some of your other recommendations I´ll have to watch again in better quality (youtube - cutted in pieces... and on PC .... is not exactly brilliant !!)

"Gorgeous" -- Tbh, the love story between Jackie Chan and Shu Qi is tedious. Tony is the reason to watch the movie.
"Chinese Odyssey 2002" -- It's more than a comedy. I cried all the way though the last 1/3 part of the movie.
BTW
“Days of Being Dumb” -- Tony and Jacky are hilarious and wonderful in the movie.
"Doctor Mack" -- Tony's performance in the movie deserves a Best Actor Award. Actually he was nominated for his role of Doctor Mack for best actor that year. |

Dr. Mack is indeed a really cool movie. I like the crying moment, wish I can look charming like Tony when I cry _________________ Sorry! I'm a cop! |
