Hi Yuka !

Thank you for teaching me - would have used the wrong term another couple of years Embarassed (I am the most confused here at the moment hahaha)

Did invertigate "Let the Right One in" - (Transl. german title: "So dark the night")
Last year only in Arthouse-Cinemas in Vienna- with very good film- critics (Genre Film)
Here some excerpts:
"Vampire-Mythos" meets "Coming of Age-Drama" - "a melancholic-morbide(ghoulish ?)drama of love and death and social coldness......- - not showing the most horror on the screen - but more in the heads of the audience ....... though you should not have an Allergy against blood !...... Rising suspense.. Anxious .... Good Actors, good Director........"
This "Arthouse-Horror" is not recommended for "open-minded Drama-friends" - only !
(Vampire-films are not my favourits, but this one sounds very interesting - to try once again !)

See you

Sorry to see S. Korea leaving the 2nd round...
because there were only 2 countries from Asia left in the tournament (Best 16). Sad
World Cup makes us suffer from a lack of sleep....., also there must be enormous
energy consumption all over the world..haha

Hi Kat,
You liked The Class, too?
Very different approach is taken compared to current films
focusing on schoool education, student-teacher relationship etc. etc. Smile

Hi Helga and all-

I feel worse for our Korean friends. They were in such contagious national celebratory mode and mood that this earlier than dreamed of exit is just heartbreaking.

It is not as devastating a loss over here where soccer is not a national craze.
Well, we always use that as an excuse heh heh Laughing

Hi there
no comment about the World championship.

Our chef cooked a bad recipe, poor him and poor us.

I am waiting to see Argentina and Brazil. Brazil for the spectacular sense of the game and Argentina because of Maradona.
About maradona, it is said that he is very happy. He keeps saying: "I am at the World championship and I can be an addicted... Ha ha ha!!".

It's a joke, ok? Put together here by me. Not true.

But in truth Maradona never took substances that made him faster or stronger. He won notwithstanding the substances he took, so go figure how great he was and still is. All the poorly talented people hate him, because he remembers them of their mediocrity.

To Yuko:
"The class" talks about french students and mirrors the social problems of that Country: the difficult integration of muslim and coloured people at large, the disadvantaged, the rich and how difficult is to make all of this teenagers interested to things that seems so insubstantial like poetry. But then is poetry one of the few means to espress their difficulties and to truly help them.

Education is a value in itself, and poetry can make you free.

The japanese film you talked about seems to be talking about violence as an espression of the self, borne in the middle of gifted children, coming from fairly rich families. They kill without the sense of good and bad, and are able to justify themselves in front of the consequences of their actions. So, a whole other angle. I am curious to see it and hope I can watch it here at the cinema.
Bye,
a kiss
Mimma

Dear Kat,

Yes. I understand. I went to the school where there were more than 16 nationalities,
(and I have relatives from several countries in my family,)
so I guess I can relate myself to that kind of difference in cultural background.
What I meant to say” current” is just on movies in general.

About the film , Kokuhaku (Confession), violence is just a form of expression.
It’s more about life and death , love , crime , Japanese law and a society…everything in it.
I’d like to hear your review, too. Smile

BTW, my favorite color happens to be blue…haha. I couldn’t believe Italy and France didn’t make it !! Sad
So as Arzentine...aqua blue. I’m sure they’ll be Best 4.

Have a good Sunday !

Thank you, Helga.

No hangover. Wink
But if I drink Japanese sake with wine and champagne, I don’t think I can come back to the real world.
(i.e. I don’t think I can go back to work….ha ha) Laughing

Have a nice Sunday!!

Hi all... Just wondering whether there's any avid footie fan around? I'm an avid football fan myself and have been following most of the matches of this world cup. To be quite frank, the first few matches were quite boring but things are getting more and more exciting now...

I'm looking forward to the Argentina vs Mexico match later in the early morning (2:30 am in malaysia ). Hopefully they will be playing attacking football!!!

I'm just wondering whether Tony follows the world cup matches ... haha Very Happy
