Yes, your link works. Thank you for your help Helga!! Someone taught me how to properly link it into my facebook profile as well. I'm getting good feedback about the effectiveness of the video so far. I just hope the politicians see it...

Hi Suellen,

yesterday in Italy a tragedy happened.
A woman, recently separated from her husband, killed her two children and tried to kill herself. They both were autistic.

This to say how important is for the families of special children to never, ever feel alone, abandoned or isolated.

A big hug my dear, we are all close to you.
Kiss
Mimma

Hi Mimma,

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. I went to one funeral for a murder suicide of a man and his autistic son with whom I went to play group and I know of at least one other murder suicide in my city alone (details were confidential but I'm so connected within the autism community that I found out who it was).

Many think that suicide is difficult to prevent but I think that murder/suicide due to years of caring for the complexities of autism is very preventable. It starts with comprehensive individual funding of ABA treatment and education. Then there is the mobilization of well-trained human resources to support the individual and the family living with autism in ways that suit the dynamics of each particular family and the stage of life that they are in.

But hear me going on like this....and Autism Awareness month is now over...so I will be powering down now and will try to capitalize on the headway provided by the documentary we participated in by using it as a tool to negotiate more funding for my kids (and others if I can.)

It's a slow process...and I appreciate the support I received in this forum..and to think I came to this forum to escape the harsh realities of my life...

Hi My Darling,
my life experience taught me that everybody has problems. I have mine, but I never felt more unlucky than any other person.

And the more you grow up more life gets complicated.

Only thing, and I really think that it works, more than money, structured help or medications like anti depressive or anti anxiety, is the collective digestion of problems. We mourn all together and enjoy all together.

This is the strength of tribes (I am sicilian, sort of european-african Wink).

Please, feel free to talk to any of us. You will always find a willing ear, a friendlly pat on the shoulder and soothing words. Believe or not, it helps, or it helps enough to overcome those bad patches that come every so often in your "line of duty".

You can:
1- throw a tantrum
2 - scream
3 - shout
4 - complain your heart out as much as you like

Nobody will judge, ok?

Stay with us, you hear me?
Big Hug
Mimma

Hi Darling,
I know that you'll be fine, or you wouldn't be the fighter that took position to defend her children rights to the best possible future.

But, between you and me, everyonceinawhile a good scream is not bad.
Not bad at all, indeed.

Bye, a kiss
Mimma

Hi Suellen

Thank you for sharing with us about Autism.
You are one brave lady fighting so gallantly for her family and their rights.
I watched the video link and was moved by your wonderful family.
I'm sure your fight isn't in vain even if you only educate one more person on Autism it raises public awareness and surely government response.
Your not asking for the world just assistance for families who need and should be entitled to support.
Good luck to you, your family and other fellow fighters you are all great examples of humanity.

I have to admit I don't personally know anyone with Autism but I am aware of it and the hardships some families endure. Here in Northern Ireland there have been charity events and television programmes raising awareness and money to help people. I was at one event a film screenig and after learning more now understand the need for as many people as possible to support these events and hope I can do so in the future.

Best wishes...mary
