The best films of the decade

A Hong Kong director made the film of the Noughties, despite Hollywood’s best efforts, animation and documentaries

Quote:
1 In The Mood For Love (2000)

Wong Kar-Wai

Sumptuous and sensual, silent for long stretches where the clothes and lilting music speak volumes instead, this visually rich, romantic film introduced the Hong Kong director to the wider audience he deserved. Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung, as the married neighbours in 1960s Hong Kong whose friendship blossoms out of proportion to their sense of decorum, are quietly on fire throughout.

cheers cheers cheers cheers

I don’t understand by what standard this was chosen...but I think to "In the mood of Love"is one of my best Tony's movies.

Thanks nancix,

It is "Sunday Times' Best Films of the Decade" not "The Times". (although these are published by the same company, I think)

In "The Times" results, "ITMFL" was in 37th but still the highest among Asian Films.

As Jane mentioned at "Random Thoughts", "ITMFL" was chosen as The Best Film of the Decade also "No 1" by "Time Out" (The Most Popular Entertainment Guide Magazine)

I think people in the UK really love this film and also this film left them very strong impression which lasts nearly 10 years. Wink

Of course, I must say it again "This is the most beautiful film not only in the decade but in the history". Very Happy
