I had the great honour to meet legendary director John Woo last week. Of course, one of the first questions I asked him was about Tony. I wondered why he thought Tony was right for the role of Zhou Yu in Red Cliff:

"Tony, actually he was playing himself. He’s a wonderful man. He’s gotten more mature and he’s got a great heart. He always cares about the others. He’s not that kind of a narrow-minded {person} as books have written. He’s not selfish; he’s very generous and charming. He has become a real role model. He was perfect for the role; he’s a great leader and also an artist. He’s just got that special quality. "

Such wonderful words from an iconic filmmaker and a truly lovely man. It makes me even prouder to be a Tony fan! I'll post a link to the rest of my questions on the news page once they're ready, but I had to share this right away.

My question to Tony is, do you feel like a role model?

Cheers,
Jeanne

Now, that's a role model I can get behind! Twisted Evil

Tony, you're hilarious. Thanks so much for answering. I happen to know now from other things Director Woo said about how great you were to come in at the last second and save the production, so that doesn't fit the decadent image - sorry. Wink

Anyway, the rest of my questions to Director Woo are now posted if anyone is interested, I hope you all enjoy it: http://www.thedivareview.com/Red_Cliff_Interview.htm

Prouder than ever to be a Tony fan,

Cheers,
Jeanne

Dear Su Li Zhen!

I already mentioned in "Get to know each other" - John Woo seem to be a very impressing personality - as director and privat - so far he let us know.
No wonder, Tony likes to work with him - Two gentle movie-giants !

I want to make a compliment to you too - for your interesting questions !

Thank you - well done !
