It was tragic that the more that Chow felt it hard to retrieve the love he had with Maggie's role, the more Chow wanted. The thing you can't grasp is always the thing you desire mostly. During the subtle encounters with the role played by Wang Faye, I wonder what might happen if he pushed it forward? |

LuLu was murdered by the Chang Chen character. Yes, he stabbed her... that's how he "murdered" her. But, you see her later in the film as flashbacks... Chow thinks about how he meets her again, just before her death.
I wasn't prepared for that... you see him removing her shoes and putting her to bed... then, the room is covered in blood! Yikes!!

hum...it's some time ago that I watched this film at a friend's home. Far too long ago! Maybe I'm going to order it. This thread is making me curious again. |

what an interesting thread !
actually i like beeing confused when seeing a masterpiece... you can enjoy the bliss of discovery several times.
2046 is an amazing construction play and i sometimes felt misled the 1st time but never lost. i think its a personal feeling depending on how explicit you expect a narration to be.
i read WKW gives his actors some items like music or books so that they can rely on sthg to build their interpretation, to be in the mood...
he gets a set of bits and pieces he can play with like a painter with his colors. actors are ingredients to him. maybe thats why he keeps such sparse contacts with them in the everyday life. to keep them pure
Tony does a great job in playing in this very demanding way. |
