Wow mu99le! Great review! Why don't you post it in the review section here as well.
The HSDS 1986 has always been my all time favourite. Tony played Zhang Wuji so well. He certainly captures Zhang's loyalty and his indecisiveness. Makes me love and hate his character at the same time. The chemistry he has with Kitty Lai was amazing too. I would rewind and watch their scenes over and over again, just to catch the subtle glances and the change in expression.
I'll give it 5/5. Definitely a winner for me _________________

Thanks for the review Mu99le. It brings back to memories ...
Those were the days when characters were really dressed up. Ladies had nice, pastel colored chiffon, glittering headpins & pretty necklaces. Gentleman were smart & neat. I enjoyed just watching for the "fashion".
That not withstanding HSDS-86 ranks together with Condor Heroes (Babara Yeung's) as my all time favourite wu-xia serials.
Yes, Tony played Wuji so well. Sometimes you just want to box his character for being so "blur" about things.
And yes, Sheren Tang was very good in it - her subtle changes from a nice sweet caring girl to a cold heart sect leader. Always felt it was thru no fault of hers - just the "society" and her bonds of those day. After all these decades. I still wish her character had got Wuji in the end.
I'm gald to still see Sheren & Maggie Sui today. |
