Tony Leung Chiu Wai with INFERNAL AFFAIRS has become the Golden Horse Award Best Actor, after the Hong Kong Film Award and the Golden Bauhinia Award, he finally fulfilled his dream of winning three Best Actor award in one year with one film.
Wai Jai due to work missed the Golden Horse Award ceremony. Although he did not personally accept the award, but this fresh out of oven triple crown Best Actor yesterday still attended SOUND OF COLORS (DEI HA TEET) promotion with excitement. Wai Jai does not know when he would receive the award. Originally he has asked the director to accept it on his behalf, but Andrew Lau Wai Keung forgot about it and finally executive producer Chong Ching accepted it instead. Wai Jai recalled that when he won the Best Supporting Actor award for PEOPLE'S HERO (YUN MAN YING HUNG) he did not attend either. His first Best Actor award also came
from the Golden Horse Award. Because this year is the event's 40th anniversary he felt it was especially meaningful. Also, Wai Jai expressed that he knows about Andy Lau Tak Wa losing by one mere vote. He felt that being nominated was already great and each victory ultimately needs a little luck. He felt that he only won due to luck.
Golden Horse Award Best Supporting Actor Anthony Wong Chau Sun yesterday expressed that he was upset for Wa Jai because the event new
Wa Jai would not get mad and thus deliberately picked on him with the hosts. As for Wa Jai's reported disappointment of losing the award, Wa Jai said, "A movie's success is due to teamwork, just as when Wa Jai won I treated it as I won as well and just as happy."
Wai Jai spent a lot of time after INFERNAL AFFAIRS to completely leave the role. He said that he almost had to be like his character and get help from a psychiatrist. Thus aside from this type of movies he would like to try lighter roles. He never thought before production started that SOUND OF COLORS could achieve such a romantic effect.
